Houston, TX (July 12, 2024): Our Teams at David Weekley Homes rose to the challenge of living out Our Purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in Q2! We completed a successful Build Month, as well as a number of other CARE projects.
During Build Month, Team Members used elbow grease and their expertise to complete projects that enhanced 3,344 lives across the country. Fourteen divisions volunteered more than 2,570 hours with local chapters of Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build beds for children in financially challenged homes. These Teams also worked with 161 Partners to collect bedding and linens to accompany these beds.
“Thank you David Weekley Homes for an awesome build today,” said Darrell Lange, Vice President of the Dallas/Ft. Worth chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. “Your hard work and commitment to helping us see that no kid sleeps on the floor in our town will benefit many children around the metroplex. We cannot do what we do without the support of volunteers like you!”
We supported many other organizations during our Build Month as well. The Raleigh Team built and painted homes in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Atlanta Team Members worked with HomeAid to restore the historic Hanley Funeral Home building, which served as the funeral home for Martin Luther King Jr. This project included painting, carpentry, repairs and installation of new flooring, ceiling fans, shelving, drywall, and plumbing. The Denver Team cleaned, made repairs, painted buildings and built accessibility ramps for Easterseals Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Village campgrounds.
The Dallas/Ft. Worth Team put their sweat equity into building more than 100 beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace during Build Month.
Members of the Charleston division volunteered with The Charleston Miracle League, a nonprofit that provides the opportunity for children and adults with special needs to enjoy baseball.
Dovetail Impact Foundation contributed $253,150 in grants to support these Build Month projects.
In Q2, we served our communities through a variety of CARE efforts in addition to Build Month. Team Members gave back by making blankets, constructing picnic tables, raising funds through a golf tournament, riding in the MS150, assisting with baseball games, participating in 5Ks, filling backpacks with school supplies, cooking for families facing a challenging time and more.
We are thankful for all of our Team Members, Homeowners and community partners who donated their time and skills to make our communities a better place to live, work and thrive!
Check with your local division Team to see how you can participate in our School Supplies Drive during this quarter, and stay tuned for our Giving Thanks, Giving Back Thanksgiving Drive in Q4.
