David Weekley Homes Celebrates Third Annual Nationwide Event by Giving Back

Houston, TX (May 18, 2018): The nation’s largest privately-held home builder celebrated more than 40 years of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives by hosting the third annual David Weekley Homes World’s Largest Showcase of Homes. From April 1-30, more than 8,700 visitors stopped by model or showcase homes across the country to see current innovations in design and décor trends.

As part of the company’s charitable and philanthropic efforts, a $5 donation was given to a local nonprofit organization for each visitor who registered with a sales consultant during David Weekley Homes World’s Largest Showcase of Homes, amounting to more than $43,000 for 19 local charities. In Houston, more than $8,000 was donated to Ronald McDonald House Houston.

“We are so grateful to the David Weekley Homes team for honoring Ronald McDonald House Houston with a gift of $8,050 from the Showcase of Homes,” said Colleen Dillahunty, manager of family services for Ronald McDonald House Houston. “Ronald McDonald House Houston offers a home away from home for families needing to stay together while a child is battling a life-threatening illness. Families are never turned away because of financial needs. This generous gift covers 322 nights of the family’s requested $25 donation. The David Weekley Homes team also brought much needed cheer and smiles as they decorated birdhouses with families and presented each guest with a unique handcrafted bird home. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts!”

The monetary gifts are one of the many ways David Weekley Homes lives out its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives, in all the communities in which it builds. The builder joins with team members, homeowners and community partners to engage with communities to make a difference through volunteer and philanthropic efforts.

They do a great job of making it a communal environment. Volunteering there this week touched my heart. I was able to sit with Little Ms. Nore and paint one of the birdhouses the CARE team brought while her dad prayed at the temple. Sitting, painting, and chatting with her was such a neat experience. It helped me understand more about Ronald MacDonald House Houston, what they offer families in need, and how our Showcase of Homes donations can have an impact. This is such a special gift that we were able to give.”
