David Weekley Homes Donates Thanksgiving Meals as Part of Holiday Food Drive
Team members collect more than 600 pounds of food for the holiday
Panama City, FL (December 13, 2016): David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, hosted its second annual, companywide Thanksgiving Drive, collecting an aggregate of 147,000 pounds of turkey and nonperishable items in 20 participating markets. The company’s efforts provided more than 149,000 meals to local families.
Locally, 300 pounds of turkey and ham and more than 300 pounds of nonperishable items were collected during the two-week drive, which ran from November 2 to 16. Panama City team members delivered the items to the organization to distribute to families in time for the holiday.
“There’s no better feeling than to give to others in need,” said Courtney Whitfield, a Design Consultant with David Weekley Homes. “I am so thankful to everyone who participated.”
In Panama City, the Thanksgiving Drive benefitted Lighthouse Church, a non-denominational fellowship church in Panama City Beach based on family, friendship and leadership
With the help of David Weekley Homes, we were able to provide 16 families with Thanksgiving meals, complete with turkeys,” said Pastor Jessi Fajardo from Lighthouse Church. “Not only were 16 families provided for, we also were able to deliver food to a local women and children's shelter for the Thanksgiving holiday.”
The Thanksgiving Drive is one of the initiatives of the company’s CARE program that joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose of building dreams, enhancing lives in all of the communities in which it builds.
