DAVID WEEKLEY HOMES HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL DRIVE COLLECTING ITEMS TO BENEFIT USO TROOPS
Orlando, FL (March 15, 2016): For the second year in a row, David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held home builder, is collecting a variety items at its Orlando Division Office and select model homes from March 14 to March 28 to create 1,000 care packages to benefit United Service Organizations (USO) Central Florida troops.
As part of the company’s philanthropic efforts through its CARE program, the Orlando Division is collecting such items as instant coffee, protein powder, granola bars, travel-size toiletries, magazines, batteries, books and more. A full list of items can be found here.
Last year’s drive generated enough materials to create 927 care packages, with the hopes of besting that goal by reaching, or surpassing, 1,000 for 2016. Donations can be dropped off at the division office at 225 South Westmonte Drive, Suite 3300, Altamonte, Springs, FL 32714, or at the model homes in Laureate Park at Lake Nona, Spring Lake at Celebration, Preserve of Oviedo on the Park, Oakland Park and John’s Lake Landing. Visit www.davidweekleyhomes.com to find the nearest model home.
The drive is an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in all the communities in which it builds. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations throughout the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
In addition to the collection drive, The David Weekley Family Foundation is also making a $10,000 donation toward the cost of the USO Central Florida’s Welcome Center at Orlando International Airport. The new welcome center will provide a living room with large screen TV’s, a children space, game station, snack bar and more for U.S. servicemen and women, and their families to rest and regroup while traveling in the Orlando area.
