Charlotte, NC (July 24, 2017): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 18 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.
In Charlotte, the project benefitted Love INC-Charlotte, an organization that has formed a network with more than 190 churches to complete projects that benefit those in need. Approximately 55 Weekley team members from the company’s Charlotte Division and a few family members worked together with more than 20 vendor partners a total of 400 hours to build ramps and complete home improvement projects at homes for families who lack the financial resources.
“The volunteers from David Weekley Homes have given the most priceless gifts anyone could have given – kindness and love,” said Keri Cimaglia, Ramp It Up Coordinator with Love INC-Charlotte. “Their time and talents have made a huge impact in Charlotte and for Love INC!”
This project benefitted eight families by providing a ramp for these homeowners, which will help them be able to leave their homes without assistance. The projects also included miscellaneous home improvement projects, including landscape work and minor repairs. A donation of $8,000 was used to purchase materials and complete the other home projects.
“This initiative provided such an awesome opportunity for all our Team Members to use sweat equity to help those in need,” said April Rotenberry, CARE council member and Project Coordinator in Charlotte with David Weekley Homes. “We were thrilled to work side by side with vendor partners to build ramps and give a little extra to help beautify the homes of eight beneficiaries. It was such a blessing to interact with these families and their appreciation made the entire experience worth every second.”
The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
