David Weekley Homes Team Members Build Ramps for Texas Ramp Project
Houston, TX (June 20, 2019): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 19 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.
In Houston, the project benefitted The Texas Ramp Project, a nonprofit organization involved in the building of more than 17,000 wheelchair ramps for elderly and disabled clients across the state. Approximately 195 Weekley team members, as well as 14 additional volunteers from vendors and family members, invested a total of 965 hours to build 24 ramps for families with medical needs who lack the financial resources.
“David Weekley Homes has played a huge part in helping these families and making their lives better,” said Les Schmaltz with the Texas Ramp Project. “Your efforts have made an impact on the number of ramps we are able to build in Houston.”
This project benefitted 24 families by providing ramps that will enable them to leave their homes without assistance. The project included a donation of $12,500 to purchase materials and tools.
“This is the CARE event I look forward to the most every year,” said Danielle Marriott, a sales consultant with David Weekley Homes. “I love to watch our whole team pull together and work toward finishing the best gift anyone could give these homeowners.”
The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $200 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
