David Weekley Homes Team Members Complete Project for Habitat for Humanity
Atlanta, GA (June 26, 2018): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 18 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.
In Atlanta, the project benefitted Habitat for Humanity – DeKalb Inc., a local nonprofit organization with a mission to build safe and affordable homes for families in DeKalb County and also provide home repair services for seniors, veterans and disabled residents. Approximately 18 Weekley team members from the company’s Atlanta Team built a ramp and completed landscaping in the front of the home. They were joined by several vendors and business partners, including BMC, Stith Landscaping and SEI, to complete this project.
“Habitat for Humanity DeKalb would like to thank David Weekley Homes for coming out and volunteering to help with a senior home repair project,” said Jasmine Moore, family services coordinator with Habitat for Humanity – DeKalb, Inc. “The work that the volunteers put in will go a long way in making the home more accessible for the homeowner.”
The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
“The Atlanta David Weekley CARE team had the fortunate opportunity to design, supply and build an accessibility ramp, providing this homeowner with a new freedom and mobility outside her home,” said Chip Pearce, project strategist manager David Weekley Homes.” While the heavy rain showers throughout the day added to the construction challenges, it was a memorable and rewarding day!”
