David Weekley Homes Team Members Renovate Kitchens for Coburn Place Safe Haven
Indianapolis, IN (July 10, 2017): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 18 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.
In Indianapolis, the project benefitted Coburn Place Safe Haven, an organization that empowers victims of intimate partner violence by offering housing options, support services and resources. Approximately 55 Weekley team members from the company’s Indianapolis Team joined together with several vendor and business partners to remodel 12 kitchens, paint a storage shed, build a bench and complete yard work.
“We are beyond grateful for the 12 new kitchens David Weekley Homes renovated during this year’s CARE event,” said Julie Henson, community engagement director at Coburn Place Safe Haven. “This makes a total of 22 out of 35 kitchens that David Weekley Homes has remodeled for Coburn Place in just two years!”
This project will benefit approximately 100 children and 65 adults annually that live in the onsite transitional housing portion of the program, plus many more for years to come. The project included donations of more than $11,000 in materials and tools as well as nearly 900 volunteer hours.
“Words cannot even begin to express how blessed I am to work for such a giving company and to be able to partner with such an amazing organization as Coburn Place Safe Haven,” said April Sjoholm, member of the CARE Council and Marketing Director in Indianapolis for David Weekley Homes. “The work these ladies do on a daily basis takes my breath away by providing transitional housing for domestic abuse victims and their families.”
The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
