David Weekley Homes Honored By Fortune Magazine For Second Consecutive Year
by David Weekley Homes
Fortune magazine recently recognized David Weekley Homes as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2000. The company stands alone as the only Home Builder to be included in the rankings for two years running.
Fortune praised David Weekley for providing more than 60 hours per year of training for employees, cultivating a sense of camaraderie among co-workers, offering quarterly profit-sharing bonuses, and treating employees to an annual appreciation celebration. In 1999 the celebration was held in Maui and in 2000 employees enjoyed the sun and sand in the Cayman Islands.
"One of the ways David Weekley Homes continues to set the standard of excellence in the homebuilding industry is by providing a challenging work environment for our team members and allowing each of them to reach their full potential," commented David Weekley, Chairman of David Weekley Homes. "We are honored to receive this national recognition which confirms we have what it takes to compete in today's marketplace."
More than 234 companies vied for a position on the prestigious Top 100 List, and all candidates were comprehensively evaluated. At least 250 employees at each company were randomly surveyed to determine their trust in management, camaraderie and pride in their company. In addition, each company answered in-depth questions regarding its philosophy and practices and provided examples of employee handbooks and internal communication tools.
