STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM DAVID WEEKLEY HOMES BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
Hilton Head, SC (September 16, 2015): David Weekley Homes hosted a Back to School Supply Drive benefiting Bluffton Self Help, an organization that is committed to providing short-term financial assistance, food and clothing to area residents while helping them to become more self-reliant.
"The staff of David Weekly Homes continue to amaze us with their support and they did it again with school supplies," said Lili Coleman, executive director of Bluffton Self Help. "We received two huge car loads of school supplies valued in the thousands of dollars. Each person who contributed can feel proud of how they impacted a child's first day at school."
Approximately 15,000 items, valued at $1,600, were collected during the two-week drive, which benefited 150 children. After collecting the donations, team members spent 10 hours sorting the supplies and delivering them to the organization to ensure the supplies would be distributed in time for the students to begin school with the tools needed to be successful.
I am so proud of my team and community for all their support with our 2nd Annual Back to School Supply Drive,” said Nancy Cantor, a sales consultant with David Weekley Homes. “We far exceeded what we achieved last year. It’s all about the kids and we feel fortunate to have made a difference in their lives.”
The drive was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members with homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by the Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
