STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM DAVID WEEKLEY HOMES BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
JACKSONVILLE, FL (September 17, 2015): David Weekley Homes hosted a Back to School Supply Drive benefiting INK! Investing in Kids, a support organization for the St. Johns County School District that leads the efforts to provide students and educators with programs and events to help each child succeed.
“More than 300 orders were filled and delivered to schools, which amounts to approximately 30,000 individual school supply items," said Donna Lueder, executive director, INK! Investing in Kids. "This program cannot exist without the support of companies like David Weekley Homes.”
Approximately $1,000 in supplies were collected during the two-week drive, which benefited approximately 200 children. After collecting the donations, team members spent 10 hours sorting the supplies and delivering them to the organization to ensure the supplies would be distributed in time for the students to begin school with the tools needed to be successful.
“I am amazed at the outpouring of support from our local team, our homeowners and our business partners and vendors,” said Katie Robinson-Hensley, marketing coordinator with David Weekley Homes.
The drive was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members with homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by the Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
