Students Benefit from David Weekley Homes Back to School Supply Drive
Wilmington, NC (August 18, 2016): David Weekley Homes hosted its annual companywide Back to School Supply Drive in 22 cities across the country. In Wilmington, school supplies were collected for Brunswick County Schools, a PK-12 school district serving 20 schools and more than 12,000 students in Brunswick County.
“This is wonderful your company does this,” said Josh Reilly with First Baptist Church of Leland. “We are so blessed to partner with David Weekley Homes.”
A variety of school supplies, valued at $1,500, were collected during the drive from vendors, prospective homebuyers and team members. The school supplies benefited more than 40 families. After collecting the donations, team members spent about 20 hours sorting school supplies and handing them out to children at a local fair.
“This is a great turnout for our first-ever Back to School Supply Drive with our vendors and prospects in Wilmington,” said Melissa Sziksai, an internet advisor and CARE council member for David Weekley Homes.
The drive was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members with homeowners, prospective homebuyers and community partners with nonprofit organizations to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
