Students Benefit from David Weekley Homes School Drive

Minneapolis, MN (September 17, 2019): David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, hosted its fifth annual, companywide School Supplies Drive in 18 cities across the country. In Minneapolis, school supplies were collected for Kids In Need Minnesota (KINMN), which partners with schools in the area to provide teachers the opportunity to obtain school supplies, free of charge.

“We are appreciative of all David Weekley Homes is doing to support students in need,” said Brittany Swanson, volunteer and community engagement coordinator with Kids In Need Minnesota. “School supplies are critical to a student’s success and we couldn't do what we do without them.”

Nearly $3,700 in supplies were collected from the local community during the drive. This donation provided 875 students with the supplies needed for the school year.

“I appreciate the opportunity David Weekley Homes gives us to give back and support the community,” said Melissa Verrone, sales consultant with David Weekley Homes in Minneapolis. “It was fun seeing our homeowners, vendors and team members come together to support such a wonderful cause.”

The School Supplies Drive is a volunteer and philanthropic initiative of the company’s CARE program, which joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in each of the communities in which it builds.
