Students Benefit from David Weekley Homes School Supplies Drive
Dallas, TX (August 23, 2017): David Weekley Homes hosted its third companywide CA+RE School Supplies Drive in 18 cities across the country. In Dallas, school supplies were collected for Community Partners of Dallas, a nonprofit agency that assists abused and neglected children served by Dallas County Child Protective Services by providing clothing, transportation, enrichment activities, housing, group treatment programs and other needed items.
“The Back to School Drive is one of our most critical projects of the year,” said Paige McDaniel, president and CEO of Community Partners of Dallas. “We're so grateful to all our friends at David Weekley Homes for your generous support.”
Approximately 500 local students will benefit from the donations collected from homeowners, real estate agents, vendors and team members during the drive. After collecting the donations, team members invested 90 hours organizing the supplies and delivering them to the organization to ensure the supplies would be distributed in time for the students to begin school with the tools needed to be successful.
“The Dallas team went above and beyond encouraging our homeowners, homebuyers and real estate partners to donate items, allowing us to provide 500 backpacks filled with supplies that these students will need for the school year,” said Susan Conway, senior sales consultant and CARE council representative for David Weekley Homes in Dallas. “I couldn’t ask for a more supportive group of people who helped make this project a huge success.”
The drive was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
