Students Benefit from David Weekley Homes School Supplies Drive
Jacksonville, FL (August 29, 2017): David Weekley Homes hosted its third companywide CA+RE School Supplies Drive in 18 cities across the country. In Jacksonville, school supplies were collected for Investing in Kids (INK), a nonprofit agency that leads efforts to directly benefit the educators and students in St. Johns County School District with programs and events that strive to provide the tools and resources necessary to help each child reach their full potential.
“David Weekley Homes has made an impact with their generosity and as a result, these children have an opportunity to succeed,” said Donna Lueders, executive director of Investing in Kids. “Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude for your kindness.”
Approximately 5,000 school supply items and more than $2,000 in cash donations, for a value of $3,000 were collected from homeowners, homebuyers, real estate agents, financial partners and team members during the drive, which benefitted approximately 50 teachers and 250 children. After collecting the donations, team members invested 36 hours collecting, sorting the supplies and delivering them to the organization to ensure the supplies would be distributed in time for the students to begin school with the tools needed to be successful.
“Our homeowners loved helping the local students in the St. Johns County Schools,” said Kirsten Gregory, sales consultant with David Weekley Homes in Jacksonville. “It was a huge success.”
The drive was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
