WEEKLEY BUILDS FIRST ENVIRONMENTS FOR LIVING HOMES IN MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN (December 1, 2015) – David Weekley Homes is the first builder in Minneapolis/St. Paul to build Environments For Living® (EFL) certified homes. The Environments For Living program provides a rigorous set of requirements for home builders and offers limited guarantees on comfort and heating and cooling energy use.
Homes in Minneapolis/St. Paul are built to EFL Diamond Level standards using the principles of building science to offer energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality and durability benefits. When homebuyers close on their David Weekley home, they will receive a certificate that indicates the average yearly maximum energy usage for heating and air conditioning (only), guaranteed by Environments For Living.
“Our EFLhomes are designed to help buyers live comfortably inside their home, but can also help them save money because of advanced energy-saving techniques, like efficient ductwork, low emissivity windows, energy-efficient lighting and improved thermal systems,” said Division President Ian Peterson.
The builder announced its launch into Minneapolis/St. Paul in August 2015 and is building in its first community, The Cove on Lake Minnetonka. The community will offer lake access living with boat slips on 90-foot homesites. Priced from the $800s, the single-family homes will include two-story floor plans ranging in size from 3,100 to 4,500 square feet. Homebuyers will enjoy a private clubhouse and pool, miles of walking trails and 150 acres of open space. The model home will open for tours December 12, 2015.
The Pines at Elm Creek in Plymouth will be the second community of David Weekley homes and the two model homes are currently under construction. The builder will also build single-family homes in Chanhassen and Medina.
