Colors of the Year 2025

David Weekley Homes is drawing inspiration from the Colors of the Year for 2025. While looking to experts in the science of shades for what’s currently trending, our Team is focusing on building you a timeless home with color palettes to stand the test of time.

Here’s a glance at the Colors of the Year for 2025, with a selection of model home photos showcasing how we’ve used similar hues in our thoughtfully designed homes.

A Celebration of Color

Rather than simply showcase one color this year, the experts at Sherwin-Williams opted to highlight an entire color capsule of nine sophisticated shades. Director of Color Marketing Sue Wadden states that their color selections “can be curated to stand out with any style.”

The versatile brown Grounded imparts the richness and stability of a refined earthen tone, while Sunbleached represents an adaptable and airy light neutral that can be used throughout the home. The vibrant yellowgreen Chartreuse brings a joyful, tropical brightness that is both eclectic and versatile, while subdued, sophisticated Mauve Finery brings a touch of botanical beauty to any room.

Rounding out the list are the golden Bosc Pear, the stormy and deep gray-blue Rain Cloud, the entrancing brown Clove, the sandy beige Malabar and the pure White Snow. This modern and fresh take on a variety of eye-catching neutrals creates a balanced array of shades sure to create an equally fresh and warm vibe in your home.

Natural Beauty

Like Sherwin-Williams, instead of releasing just one Color of the Year, Florida Paints has curated an entire palette that looks to Natural Beauty as its muse. Foliage is a soft green reminiscent of new growth, Haven blends green and gray for a comforting shade of moss, Deep Plunge is a moody blue reminiscent of the sea, and Moscow Mule is a terracotta hue that calls to mind dry clay.

To complete the palette, Florida Paints offers Rum Cherry – a rich mix of red, brown and purple, and Coal Black – sophisticated and smoky with a kiss of brown. The deeper shades are ideal for accent walls that lend depth to a room.

Purple Basil

Both PPG and Glidden embrace the charm of rich and earthy Purple Basil. While PPG heralds its perfect balance of the calming qualities of blue and the energetic warmth of red, Glidden points to its rich warmth and energy. Whether painting an accent wall or boosting your home’s gray exterior with a Purple Basil entry door, it’s the perfect statement-making botanical hue for Homeowners who boldly exercise creative self-expression.

Rumors

For a color that will have everyone talking, Behr lists Rumors as its 2025 Color of the Year. This deep ruby red lends warmth and rich allure to any room, whether adding an eye-catching pop of color inside a tray ceiling or on an accent wall.

Raku

C2 drew inspiration for Raku from a centuries-old pottery technique used in ancient Japanese tea ceremonies when crafting this earthy, burnt, brownish red with oxidized undertones of purple. This deep yet vibrant shade infuses living spaces with dramatic appeal and an air of intimacy while exuding an undeniable sense of sophistication.

Encore

An applause-worthy atmospheric blue with a tinge of violet, Encore is Valspar’s pick for Color of the Year 2025. Banking on blue’s comeback, the industry-leading paint and coatings brand touts Encore as “an anchoring shade that embodies constancy and confidence to let you create a joyful respite from the ebbs and flows of life.” Highly adaptable, this cheerful hue really sings as a glossy interior trim or door paint.

Caramelized

Dunn Edwards Paints touts Caramelized as the “ultimate new neutral.” Evoking the soft, sunbaked hues of natural clay – Caramelized is the ideal shade for creating a connection between indoors and the natural world beyond your windows. Serving as a calm, neutral backdrop – especially when paired with creamy off-whites and neutrals – it plays well with shades of blue, green and brown.

Hammered Black

Taking a cue from the re-emergence of gothic design, Hammered Black puts a contemporary twist on a classic that – according to Krylon Color Marketing Manager Ashley Banbury – “creates an alluring surface dimension and texture.” Hammered Black exudes a modern vibe with timeless charm. Krylon recommends pairing it with hues of gold, silver and dusky blue to optimize the appeal of this bold and shadowy shade.

Violet

Like PPG and Glidden, Minwax believes in the power of purple for 2025. Color Marketing Manager Lisbeth Parada proclaims Violet to be “the perfect pick for those who want to showcase their individuality and go bold at home.” This spell-binding shade adds a touch of whimsy to any space, pairing well with white, black and paler shades of lavender.

Mapped Blue

Much like the maps of a bygone era, Dutch Boy encourages you to chart a course to calm using this medium-tone Mapped Blue with slight yellow undertones. Described as a timeless foundation that lends modern charm to any space, Mapped Blue pairs well with deeper shades of blue and warm neutrals for an elegant aesthetic or with shades of green and copper for a more playful vibe.

Elderton

Elderton takes its name from the humble Elder tree, this deep, rich hue draws inspiration from the Elder’s dark brown leaves. Graham & Brown purports this perfect neutral-toned brown will stand out this year while never going out of fashion in the years to come. It wields the power to infuse a space with an earthy air of sophistication, making it an excellent shade selection for a dining room, study or luxurious Owner’s Retreat.

Cinnamon Slate

“Enduring Style Meets Modern Sensibility” with Benjamin Moore’s pick for 2025 Color of the Year: Cinnamon Slate. Marking a delicate blend of heathered plum and velvety brown, it exudes warmth, comfort and a sense of ease. A legend in the paint industry since 1883, Benjamin Moore has crafted a stunning palette to complement this tasteful, earthy shade, featuring hues of brown, tan, teal, green, pale pink and “sea salt” bisque.

Mocha Mousse

Known as the worldwide standard for color communication and inspiration for the fashion, home, interiors, graphics and digital industries since 1963, PANTONE® points to a soft warming brown as its Color of the Year. Simple, sophisticated and comforting, Mocha Mousse makes an earthy yet elegant addition to any room. It plays well with an array of neutrals and pastels to create a sweet sense of luxury.
