David Weekley Homes Announces 2018 "Partners of Choice" Award Winners
Houston, TX (June 28, 2018): David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held home builder, is pleased to announce the winners of its 14th annual Partner of Choice Awards. The award recognizes those suppliers that have operated at world-class levels through the year, as determined by the home builder’s supplier evaluation platform. This rigorous, comprehensive process, anchored by the National Trading Partner Survey, evaluates companies in the areas of quality, service, performance in reliability, communication, timeliness, follow-through and other areas critical to the business relationship.
“Today’s home buyer is more informed and has higher expectations than ever before,” said Bill Justus, vice president of supply chain services for David Weekley Homes. “We will continue to rely on our strongest National Trading Partners to help us deliver a buying experience that is unsurpassed in the home building industry.”
Every year, David Weekley Homes presents the coveted “A,A” Award to suppliers providing both exceptional quality and service, and the “A” Award, recognizing excellence in either quality or service.

The National Trading Partner Survey is performed on a quarterly basis and is comprised of 12 questions that allow roughly 1,000 David Weekley Homes team members from all points of contact to rate areas of supplier performance on a 1-to-10 scale. The evaluation process involves a comprehensive system of feedback and discussion that enables David Weekley Homes to measure world-class excellence among all established trade partners and their channel partners. Survey results that fall below an eight on the scoring system prompt thorough follow-up and action plans, as well as opportunities for coaching and mentoring. Providers who receive the highest scores throughout the year are presented with the prestigious Partners of Choice Award.
“We are able to compare a paint company to a shingle company to a flooring installer and determine which providers are adding the most value for our team members,” Justus said. “Additionally, the comprehensive feedback and mentorship we provide our suppliers benefits the entire home building industry.”
A total of 200 companies were evaluated this year and 9 percent achieved the highest “A,A” status. Many companies that partner with David Weekley Homes have garnered multiple and consecutive awards over several years of service, including Dow Chemical, which has met the criteria for the “A,A” Award for 14 years.
“Dow is committed to providing its customers with high-quality products that are backed with first-class service,” said Kevin McClain, residential solutions specialist for Dow Chemical. “To be honored with the Partners of Choice Award for 14 consecutive years is verification that our team does not rest on past performance and is dedicated to continuous improvement.”
James Hardie Building Products, a provider of siding and weather barriers for David Weekley Homes, is an 11-time “A,A” Award winner.
“The Partners of Choice Award has been a significant part of our ongoing relationship with David Weekley Homes,” said Dan Tresch, national manager of strategic accounts for James Hardie Building Products. “From its inception, the National Trading Partner Survey has enabled James Hardie to become more engaged at every level of the Weekley organization. The survey continues to be a sounding board for David Weekley employees and allows us to respond quickly to their needs.”
A Better Blind has won three consecutive “A,A” awards for excellence in providing blinds and other window treatments for the builder.
“The Partner of Choice Award means so much to me and so many other companies that have had the honor of winning it,” said Robert Gebara, vice president of A Better Blind. “It is a sign of prestige in an industry that is filled with prestigious trade partners.”
Moen, which provides David Weekley Homes with faucets, sinks and garbage disposals, was proud to earn the sought-after “A,A” award for the second consecutive year.
