DAVID WEEKLEY HOMES JOINS THE FIGHT AGAINST CHILDHOOD HUNGER
CHARLESTON, SC (October 28, 2014): David Weekley Homes is “backpack buddies” with thousands of children in South Carolina. Backpack Buddies is the Lowcountry Food Bank’s campaign aimed at the fight against weekend hunger, when students are not receiving their meals during the school week.
For the sixth year in a row, David Weekley team members filled 2,000 bags with nutritious snacks from the Food Bank for delivery to Charleston-area students. Every week, the bags are distributed to 35 different schools in ten counties before Friday afternoon dismissal. After a weekend of healthy eating, the kids return to school on Monday ready to learn. About 3,200 children benefit from the year-long effort.
David Weekley Homes, founded in 1976, is headquartered in Houston and operates in 18 cities across the United States.
