FAMILIES BENEFIT FROM DAVID WEEKLEY HOMES THANKSGIVING DRIVE
Team members collect more than 100,000 pounds of food for the holiday
SAN ANTONIO, TX (December 7, 2015): David Weekley Homes hosted a company-wide Thanksgiving Drive and collected more than 100,000 pounds of turkey and nonperishable items.
In San Antonio, the Thanksgiving Drive benefited the San Antonio Food Bank, an organization that provides food and grocery products to more than 500 partner agencies in 16 counties throughout Southwest Texas.
Approximately 425 pounds of food and 22 turkeys, and $3,400 in monetary donations were collected during the two-week drive. San Antonio team members delivered the food items to the organization to distribute to families in time for the holiday.
“The holidays are the busiest time of year for the San Antonio Food Bank as we work tirelessly to set the table for 58,000 people each week,” said President and CEO Eric S. Cooper. “We are thankful for David Weekly Homes and their food drive as it impacts the lives of those we serve. They help us turn hungry holidays into happy holidays.”
The drive was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that joins team members with homeowners, homebuyers, community partners and local nonprofit organizations to live out its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives in all the communities in which it builds. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $100 million to a variety of organizations throughout the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
