DAVID WEEKLEY HOMES CARE PROGRAM
CARE to Make a Difference
2023 Impact Report
When I started David Weekley Homes nearly half a century ago, I dreamed of creating a different kind of company – one focused not just on building high-quality homes, but on truly making a difference in the lives of our Team, our Customers and our Community. Through the philanthropic and volunteer efforts of our CARE program, you have helped bring this vision to life!
I’m filled with immense gratitude as I reflect on a remarkable year of giving and the community impact that we had in 2023. This past year was a true testament to the power of coming together to help others and exemplified the compassionate spirit and servant hearts of our David Weekley Homes Team Members. Together, with our extended family of Homeowners and Partners, you enhanced countless lives (461,015 to be exact!) and made a profound positive impact in the communities where we live and work.
While our initiatives may evolve, Our Purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives remains steadfast. I’m excited to see our impact grow as we continue this vital work together.
I hope that you’ll enjoy reading more about the impact we made and the organizations we partnered with in 2023.
Blessings,
David
Committed to Building Community Character
At David Weekley Homes, we are dedicated to fulfilling Our Purpose of Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives! Not only do we want to build homes that delight our Customers, we are also passionate about making a difference in the communities in which we work and live.
By joining together with our Team Members, Homeowners, Homebuyers and community partners, we are improving lives through the volunteer and philanthropic efforts of our CARE program, which we define as:
Committed to Building Community Character... encouraging a culture of caring and contribution with our Team Members, Customers and Community.
Active in our Community... engaging our communities with Team Members completing hundreds of projects, and through company earnings and the Dovetail Impact Foundation (formerly the David Weekley Family Foundation) donating more than $275 million to worthy causes over the past 30 years.
Responsible to our Community... living up to our responsibility of Building Dreams and Enhancing the Lives of our Team, Customers and Community.
Enhancing our Community... living a life of service to provide true meaning and purpose.
“The David Weekley Homes CARE program is one of the many reasons I wanted to work for this company. I wholeheartedly believe that we are meant to lead lives filled with purposeful service to others, infused with passion, creating magical moments and radiating love for all. Our CARE program allows us to fulfill this calling by making positive impacts and bringing joy to our local communities. I feel blessed to work for a company that puts our Team Members and community first.”

History of CARE
At David Weekley Homes, helping others and giving back is an integral part of our culture. For more than 20 years, that’s included a robust outreach program with our Team Members donating their time and talents working with local nonprofits.
While these efforts made a profound impact in the communities where we live and build, we knew that we wanted – and could – do more. In 2014, we reached out to our Team Members, Homeowners and Homebuyers for feedback to determine where and how to focus our philanthropic efforts. The comments emphasized that all these groups believe in our efforts and were interested in participating with us. With such a positive response, we launched our companywide CARE program.
To support this new initiative, we asked 21 Team Members with a passion for service to join our CARE Council and spearhead our new companywide efforts. These individuals work diligently behind-the-scenes to develop the strategy and provide input and vision for our three annual companywide events as well as local initiatives, too.
As the saying goes, “It takes a village,” and we are very fortunate to receive so much support from our Team and our community. We look forward to impacting more lives in the coming years!
Companywide Initiatives
While our CARE program focuses on many local charitable events, we also work with a variety of national organizations as part of our companywide initiatives. These nonprofit organizations include Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, the National MS Society, Sleep in Heavenly Peace and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
Ideally, we support and partner with organizations committed to education and youth development, as well as those focusing on family values and strengthening.
For the last nine years, we have hosted these three annual companywide signature events through our CARE program.
Our CARE Build Month initiative allows us to share our unique skillset as homebuilders to complete building projects with a variety of nonprofit organizations. From ramp projects and kitchen renovations to building homes or building beds for underserved children, Team Members work alongside our trade and vendor partners to lend a hand by completing projects that impact the lives of those less fortunate.
This year, 14 of the company’s 19 local divisions as well as the corporate office, all completed projects to build over 1,000 beds. This included partnerships with 16 local chapters of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Five local divisions participated in other build projects such as landscaping a play area, building bikes, skateboards and dressers for children in foster care and families in need, and performing maintenance work and repairs at a camp for adults and children with disabilities.
Portland Team Members were all smiles after building bunk beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
Bruce Crenshaw, Director of Chapter Support for Sleep in Heavenly Peace in Dallas/Ft. Worth talks about the Build Month project completed in May 2023 by David Weekley Homes Team Members.
We believe that it’s important for all students to have the tools needed for success in school. Through our School Supplies Drive, we work together with our extended David Weekley Homes family in the cities where we live and build to ease the financial burden of this expense for thousands of families and provide deserving children with the supplies needed for the new school year.
Team Members in Orlando packed 160,000 supplies in backpacks for A Gift for Teaching as part of their School Supplies Drive project.
“We are so grateful for this ongoing partnership! Support from DW CARES ensures academic enrichment opportunities for our Club members. Together, we will foster a love of learning that will enable our youth to reach their full potential.”

Our Giving Thanks, Giving Back Thanksgiving Drive is an opportunity for us to count our blessings by lending a helping hand to provide families in need with a hearty Thanksgiving meal. With the help of Homeowners, Homebuyers and the community, we have provided frozen turkeys and nonperishable items to nonprofit organizations across the country.
Tampa Team Members collected turkeys and nonperishable items and donated $15,722 to benefit Feeding Tampa Bay for their 2023 Thanksgiving Drive project.
“At Second Helpings, we truly appreciate partners like David Weekley Homes. Your dedicated staff works with us year after year to put meals on central Indiana tables and ensure that we have the supplies we need to do our mission each day. You are truly instrumental in helping us feed Indy year-round, and we simply cannot say thank you enough!”

WELLNESS RUNS
As a way of incorporating both our philanthropy initiatives and prioritizing wellness, Team Members across the country participated in 13 fun runs. The company paid the run fees for Team Members and a guest – with all proceeds benefitting local nonprofit organizations. We had a great turn out with 806 runners/walkers participating. Next year, we plan to participate in 20 runs across the country.

This Year’s Impact · 2023
Our CARE program at David Weekley Homes extends beyond just our Team Members.
We are fortunate to have incredible support from our Homeowners, Real Estate Agent partners, trade and vendor partners and many others in the community, too. With a heart for service and dedication to giving back, our volunteers inspire us all to do better, go further and reach higher. Take a look at just a few stories highlighting the different ways we are all impacted by working together to make the world just a little better – one project at a time.
Here’s what our Team Members have to say:
Minneapolis Sleep in Heavenly Peace Chapter President Scott Wilde and David Weekley Homes Team Members Lane Hamling and Erich Buss talk about the impact of Build Month in their community.
Tampa Team Members volunteered at and supported their local Special Olympics by sending messages of encouragement to the participants.
“This was our 3rd time partnering with Rebuilding Together Austin and, as always, it was such an amazing experience. This family had been in their home since 1966, and had four generations living there. We installed a new fence, refurbished pieces of the old fence, built a wall in their garage to give them a safer space, and helped build a ramp for the grandmother, who is wheelchair-bound, so that she was able to easily get in and out of the house and enjoy her backyard with their dogs.”

Brian Schelling with Lyman Lumber Company talks about partnering with David Weekley Homes for our CARE project for Build Month that benefitted Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
“We at Brinley’s Grading feel strongly about helping those in the community we live and work in, and we are very fortunate and blessed to have a partner in David Weekley Homes that shares in our philanthropic passion. The youth of today are our future, and we are proud to contribute to their success in the classroom through the school supply drive that DWH sponsors each fall.”
