7 Easy Steps to Build on Your Lot
1. YOUR HOMESITE
In town or out, we’ll build almost anywhere you like! And if you aren’t sure where to get started, we can help you find or evaluate a homesite for your new home. Once you’ve purchased the right homesite, all we need to get started is the survey!
2. SELECT YOUR PLAN
It’s fun to browse through our architect-designed floor plans to select the one you would most like to live in! Your Sales Consultant will assist you in selecting the ideal floor plan from our collection of designs, and you can personalize it with our FlexSpace℠ options to make your dream home a reality.
3. ARRANGE FINANCING AND FINALIZE CONSTRUCTION AGREEMENT
Your Sales Consultant will put you in touch with our preferred lender for your financing needs. They will ensure you get the best mortgage to fit your requirements. Once you’ve arranged for financing, lock in your home price by finalizing your Construction Agreement.
4. DETERMINE SITE COSTS
Each homesite is different and each plan will fit differently on your homesite. We review each site carefully and will provide you with all the necessary site costs involved in the construction of your new home.
5. PERSONALIZE YOUR HOME
Make your home your own by choosing from the wide variety of pre-priced Custom Choices™ available in our Design Center. Need help with your selections? Our Design Consultants can help bring out your inner interior designer!
6. BEGIN CONSTRUCTION
Experience Building The Weekley Way with three scheduled meetings with your Personal Builder℠. These three meetings are scheduled during construction to keep you up-to-date on your home’s progress and ensure your happiness. After all, if you have questions about your home, who better to answer them than the person who’s building it?
7. MOVE-IN AND WARRANTY
Your personal home building journey doesn’t stop with the construction. As part of our Customer Care program, David Weekley Homes provides a warranty orientation to inform you of the superior 1-year warranty and the additional 10-year limited warranty available.

Preparing to Build Your New Home
From simple to complex, building a new home has many stages. We’ll walk you through the process one step at a time.
With well over three decades of experience in locating and evaluating land, we’ll assist you in finding the perfect location for your new home. Our land consulting services include locating the land, site cost evaluation, suitable floor plan recommendations, and septic or well requirements.
At David Weekley Homes, we know it’s critical to give your homesite a valid soil test and inspection prior to building your new dream home.
A survey of your land is essential before the building process can begin. Through our Build on Your Lot program in San Antonio, we will conduct a professional survey of your land to determine property limits, as well as plot the location of the house, garage and other features.
We provide a tree survey to gain useful information about the existing trees on your property, such as the species, physical measurement, ages, overall health and life expectancy. Information like this helps our Build on Your Lot experts make informed decisions on about which trees we can keep and which ones are potential problems.
If your homesite has an existing structure on it that needs removal, we can take care of that for you! From securing the necessary permits to debris removal, David Weekley Homes Build on Your Lot program offers demolition services of an existing structure.
Every home is different, and so is its HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) system. Depending on your situation, region and needs, you can choose from heating systems running on either gas or oil as fuel, or a hybrid packaged system that can use both fuel types. Our Build on Your Lot designers have the answers to those questions, they are experts in equipping your home with the right unit.
We want to make your home building experience to be free of surprises – especially when it comes to pricing. Fixed pricing from the start means there isn't any question about how much you will pay to close on your new home. We explain the total cost before you sign on the dotted line, eliminating unexpected bumps in the road.
We have relationships with Preferred Lenders who are available to assist Homeowners with their home financing needs. Our Preferred Lenders offer a variety of mortgage lending services and they can guide you through initial application through closing. For those interested, David Weekley Homes also accepts cash contracts.
Building Your Home
The paperwork is signed, so now the fun begins! Now you’ll really start to see your dream home become a reality.
Your Personal Builder℠ is dedicated to keeping you informed of your as your home comes together. Depending on the construction stage of your new Build on Your Lot home, you’ll meet up to four times with your Personal Builder: at foundation, framing, drywall and final walk-through. When you have questions, he will have answers. It’s just another way we personalize the home building experience and offer great Customer Service to you.
Want to keep up with your home’s progress at anytime? When you sign your contract, you will be given access to your buyer website, MyDWHome.com – a great resource for your new home. We give you the ability to access valuable information about your new home anytime. View photos of your home during the building process, schedule design appointments and even schedule warranty service appointments after you’ve closed on your home!
Our construction professionals inspect the construction and quality of your home. We conduct inspections at different stages by the jurisdiction in which the home is built. Your home must pass each inspection before construction can continue. In addition, David Weekley Homes has professional, third-party inspections performed on foundation, framing, mechanical systems, all plumbing systems, and all energy components. This is to verify that we are building your new home to code and have met all the necessary standards. Our EnergySaver™ Homes in San Antonio undergo additional inspections, specifically designed and monitored by Environments For Living® for energy-efficiency certification.
We provide all new David Weekley Homeowners with a home location survey plat. In addition to understanding home placement, this survey is required for many zoning approvals, and shows all property lines and existing structures on your land drawn to scale.
At David Weekley Homes, we take communication seriously, and keeping our promises is important – that’s why we keep you informed during each step of the building process. Your Personal Builder will contact you regularly to update you on progress, while MyDWHome.com will allow you to check on the building process at anytime!

That’s why we dedicate an entire department to our industry-leading, multi-level, in-house warranty program. Our skilled Warranty Service Team can help you resolve any construction or maintenance issues that might arise. During the first year you’re covered by our one-year limited warranty, plus the appliance manufacturers’ warranties. Our two-year mechanical systems warranty covers plumbing, electrical, central air conditioning and heating systems. Your peace of mind is what matters most.
