David Weekley Homes Team Members Build Beds for Bridgepoint Church
Tampa, FL (June 6, 2019): David Weekley Homes recently partnered with 19 local nonprofit organizations across the country through the company’s CARE Build Month projects.
In Tampa, the project benefitted Building Beds, a local ministry of BridgePoint Church created to ensure that every child in our community has their own bed to sleep in at night. More than 80 Weekley team members and their families joined together to build, assemble and paint beds for families who lack financial resources and are unable to afford the cost of a bed, bedding and other basic needs.
“Thank you for the continued partnership. We are so grateful David Weekley Homes decides to do this each year,” said Melanie Benner, missions coordinator at BridgePoint Church. “The involvement impacts our community and helps so many children in need.”
This project provided a bed frame, bedding, pillow, mattress and toiletries for 230 children. In addition to more than 400 volunteer hours from David Weekley team members, the project included $6,000 in donations for lumber, bedding and toiletries, as well as a monetary donation of $10,000 from the David Weekley Homes CARE Fund to provide mattresses, bed sets and sheets to accompany each bed.
“It felt great to be involved in such a great cause and to be able to make an impact on the youth in our local community,” said Rachel Cunningham, sales consultant with David Weekley Homes. “And, I had fun!”
The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $200 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
